Terence Hill, sein richtiger Name lautet Mario Girotti, wurde am 23. Maerz 1939 in Venedig geboren. Sein Vater war Chemiker. Seine Mutter war gebuertige Deutsche und waehrend Marios Kindheit lebte die Familie in Dresden, wo sie die Schrecken der Staedtebombardements des 2. Weltkrieges miterlebte. Der Italienische Filmemacher Dino Risi entdeckte Mario bei einem Schwimm-Wettkampf. Er drehte seinen ersten Film "Vacanze col Gangster (Holiday for Gangsters)" im Alter von 12 Jahren. Mario blieb der Schauspielerei treu, um sein Studium und sein Hobby, das Motorradfahren, zu finanzieren. Nachdem er drei Jahre klassische Literatur an der Universitaet von Rom studiert hatte, beschloss er sich vollends der Schauspielerei zu widmen. 1962 war er in Luchino Viscontis Kriegsfilm "Der Leopard" zu sehen. Danach unterschrieb Mario fuer eine Serie von Abenteuer und Western Filmen in Deutschland. 1967 kehrte er nach Italien zurueck, wo er die Hauptrolle in "Zwei vom Affen gebissen" bekam. Waehrend der Dreharbeiten in Almeria, Spanien, heiratete er die Amerikanerin, Lori Hill, die fuer die Dialoge des Streifens zustaendig war. Mario Girotti aenderte seinen Namen in Terence Hill, indem er den Namen des Autors seines Latein-Geschichtebuches "Terenzio" und den Familiennamen seiner Frau zusammenfuegte. 1976 rief ihn Hollywood und er spielte in "March or Die" mit Gene Hackman, danach in "Mr. Billion" mit Valerie Perrine. Seit damals konzentrierte er sich vor allem auf Action/Abenteuer-Filme. Mit seinem Langzeitpartner, Bud Spencer, drehte er bis dato insgesamt 17 Filme. Heute lebt Terence Hill in Massachusetts und wirkt dort als Filmproduzent , wie auch als anerkannter Schauspieler.

The Biography of Bud Spencer

1929: Bud Spencer is born as Carlo Pedersoli on October 31st in Napoli (Italy). His father was a businessman, but in times of the World Wars he dind't make much money. 1934: Vera Pedersoli, Carlos sister is born in Napoli. 1935: Carlo comes to Elementary School in his hometown. 1937: He becomes a member of a local swimming-club and earns his first merits. 1940: The Family Pedersoli leaves Napoli for business reasons and moves to Rome. There Carlo's father starts new. The children visit the school in Rome. Carlo comes to High School and enters a roman swimming-club. 1946: Carlo finishes High School with best marks. Not even 17 years old, he passes a diffucult examn at the University of Rome and begins to study Chemistry (1.10.1946). 1947: For financial reasons the Pedersolis move to South-America. Carlo has to leave the University. In South-America there is no opportunuty for academical training. In Rio he worked at the assembly line, in Buenos Aires as librarian and finally as secretary in the italian ambassy of Uruguay. 1948: Carlo returns to Italy, becaus a swiming-club wants him in it's team. He doesn't continue his Chemistry studies and starts to study Law. He becomes Italian breast-stroke Champion. 1950: In this year he wins the championship in 100 meter freestyle, in a time under a minute. He keeps this title until the end of his career. Carlo plays in his first movie, the Hollywood-production "Quo Vadis". The movie is shot in Rome and he gives an Emperor's Guard. 1952: As a member of the Italian National team, Carlo participates at the Olympic Summergames in Helsinki. As a swimmer and as a waterball player. The Italian Waterball team was European Champion. After the Olympic Games, he and other promising athletes are invited by the Yale University. He spends a few month in the USA. 1956: Olympic Games in Melbourne. Carlo starts with big hopes. He reaches the respectable 11th place. 1957: He leaves University with a doctor degree in Law. From one day to another he decides to change his life and goes to South-America. He says personally: "Fast glory and fame can negatively change one's character. I was very close to it." Carlo worked nine month for a big American concern, that built the Panamericana, a huge street from Panama to Buenos Aires. After this time he was employed by an automobil-firm in Caracas until 1960. 1960: Carlo returns to Rome. There he marries the six years younger Maria Amato, whom he knew for 15 years. Although Maria's father is one of the mightiest Film-producers in Italy, Carlo is not interested in movie-business. He signs a contract with the record-label RCA. Carlo composes for popular Italien Singers. He also writes some movie-soundtracks. 1961: Giuseppe, the oldest son of the couple Pedersoli is born. 1962: Christiana, Carlos oldest daughter is born. 1964: Carlos contract with RCA ends. His father-in-law dies in this year. 1965: Carlo starts hi own business - a firm for publicity and production. He produces documentary films for the Italian TV-station RAI. 1967: Giuseppe Colizzi, an old friend offers Carlo a role in a movie. After some time of hesitating, Carlo accepts and makes together with Mario Girotti the Italo-Western "God forgives ... I don't !". Both stars change their names: Carlo Pedersoli becomes Bud Spencer and Mario Girotti becomes Terence Hill. The name Bud Spencer was created by Carlo himself: He is a fan of Spencer Tracys- therefore the new surname. Carlo found he English word "Bud" very funny related to his figure. 1970: "Trinity is still my name" is shot and becomes a real blockbuster in entire Europe. This collosal Fun-Western means the end of the brutal Spaghetti-Westen. Bud Spencer und Terence Hill are very big stars. 1972: Carlo Pedersolis youngest daughter Diamante is born. 1973: The first movie of the "Flatfoot Cop" series is shot - after an idea of Bud Spencer, who likes his part of Rizzo very much. The following Flatfoot-movies are written by Bud Spencer, too. 1975: Carlo gets his pilot-licence for Italy, as well as for Swiss and the USA. 1977: For his movie "They called him Bulldozer" Carlo writes a few songs. One of them he performs personally in the movie. 1979: Bud Spencer gets the cinema-Jupiter as most popular star in Germany. 1980: After ten years of abstinence from Westen-movies Bud Spencer celebrates a comebackto this genre. The movie is called "Buddy goes West". 1981: He writes the story of "Banana Joe".
